The Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (Other than Fast Rescue Boats) course has been designed to meet the requirements of the STCW Convention 1978, as amended, Table A-VI/2-1. Taking the IMO Model Course 1.23 as a guideline.
Those who succesfully complete this course should achieve the required standard of competence to handle, operate and take charge of survival craft and rescue boats during and after launch in adverse weather condtions.

Scope
The Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (Other than Fast Rescue Boats) course has been designed to meet the requirements of the STCW Convention 1978, as amended, Table A-VI/2-1. Taking the IMO Model Course 1.23 as a guideline.
Objective
Those who succesfully complete this course should achieve the required standard of competence to handle, operate and take charge of survival craft and rescue boats during and after launch in adverse weather condtions.
Course Content
- Take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during and after launch;
- Operate a survival craft engine;
- Manage survivors and survival craft after abandoning ship;
- Use locating devices, including communication, signalling apparatus and pyrotechnics;
- Apply first aid to survivors;
