HB500 Fieldwork (24ETCS)
Module Outline
This module provides students with extensive practical experience in hydrographic surveying. Through a combination of field training, internships, and integrated project work, students learn to organise and execute surveys, process data, and communicate results professionally. The module builds progressively toward an end-of-year defence, where students present their fieldwork project to a jury of industry professionals and academic staff.
Learning Outcomes
1. Be capable of organising a complete survey by multi or single beam.
2. Understand the methodology of other kinds of survey and assist during the
execution
3. Capable in setting up and determining the offsets of a survey boat.
4. Capable to organise and execute a levelling survey. 5. Capable of drawing a chart of
the surveyed area.
Evaluation
At the end of the academic year, students present their fieldwork project and answer questions from a jury composed of industry professionals and academic staff.
