The Medical Care course has been designed to meet the requirements of the STCW Convention 1978, as amended, Table A-VI/4-2.
Those who succesfully complete this course acquire the necessary level of competence to organize and manage the provisions of medical care on board.

Objective
Those who succesfully complete this course acquire the necessary level of competence to organize and manage the provisions of medical care on board.
Course Content
- Clinical examination and history taking;
- Signs and symptoms of disease and trauma;
- Communicable and general diseases;
- trauma, injury and death at sea;
- Surgical techniques and equipment;
- Ships hygiene and disease prevention;
- A thorough knowledge of the use and contents of the following publications: International medical guide for ships, medical section of the ICS, medical first aid guide for use in accidents involving dangerous goods.
