Objective

Scope
The GMDSS GOC (General Radio Operator's Certificate) course has been designed to meet the
requirements of the STCW Convention 1978, as amended, Table A-IV/2 for all areas. Taking the IMO
Model Course 1.26 as a guideline.
Objective
Those who succesfully complete this course and pass the BIPT examination should be able to
efficiently operate the GMDSS equipment and to have primary responsibility for radiocommunications
during distress incidents.
