Those who succesfully complete this course should achieve the required standard of competence and knowledge regarding the handling of cargo on board a ship, and to plan and ensure safe loading, stowage, securing and care during the voyage and unloading of cargoes.

• Knowledge and the ability to apply relevant international regulations, codes and standards concerning the safe handling, stowage, securing and transport of cargoes.
• Knowledge of the effect on trim and stability of cargoes and cargo operation.
•  Use of stability and trim diagrams and stress-calculating equipment, including automatic data-based (ADB) equipment, and knowledge of loading cargoes and ballasting in order to keep hull stress within acceptable limits.
• Loading and unloading operations, with special regard to the transport of cargoes indentified in the Code of Safe Practice for Cargo Stowage and Securing.
•  General knowledge of tankers and tanker operations.
•  Ability to explain the basic principles for establishing effective communications and improving working relationship between ship and terminal personnel.
• Knowledge of the operational and design limitations of bulk carriers

The IGF Advanced course has been designed to meet the requirements of the STCW Convention 1978, as amended, Table A-V/3-2.

The purpose of this Code is to ensure the safe and environmentally sound design, construction and operation of ships and in particular their installations of propulsion machinery systems, auxiliary power units and/or other machinery using low flash point gas or fuel as fuel. Masters, engineers and all crew members with direct responsibility for the care and use of fuels and fuel systems on board ships covered by the IGF Code must hold a certificate of continuing training for service on ships covered by the Advanced IGF Code (IGF training).

The IGF code requires 3 bunker operations to receive the Advanced training level. Two of the three bunkering operations may be replaced by approved simulator training as part of the advanced training. In cooperation with Kongsberg simulators, AMA can offer this possibility, providing a full certification.

· Familiarisation with physical and chemical properties of fuels on board ships subjects to IGF code.

· Basic of thermodynamics and relation to LFF fuels.

The IGF Basic course has been designed to meet the requirements of the STCW Convention 1978, as amended, Table A-V/3-1.

The purpose of this Code is to ensure the safe and environmentally sound design, construction and operation of ships and in particular their installations of propulsion machinery systems, auxiliary power units and/or other machinery using low flash point gas or fuel as fuel. Seafarers entrusted with certain safety tasks related to the care, use or emergency assistance of fuel on board ships covered by the IGF Code must hold a certificate of basic training for service on ships covered by the Basic IGF code.

IGF: Methanol – Methanol as Low Flash Point Fuel aims to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible use of methanol as a low-flashpoint fuel on board seagoing vessels, in accordance with the IMO IGF Code and relevant international regulations.

The objective of the course “IGF: Methanol – Methanol as Low Flash Point Fuel” is to provide participants with the essential theoretical knowledge and practical competence required to safely handle, operate, and maintain methanol fuel systems on board ships that use methanol as a low-flashpoint fuel.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the physical and chemical properties of methanol and its implications for safe shipboard use.
• Identify and apply appropriate health, safety, and environmental protection measures.
